Low-bed structure

Side beams of low-bed semi-trailers are usually made of I-beams. At present, most standard semi-trailers adopt channel steel, while lightweight semi-trailers mostly use bent side beams due to their relatively lower overall strength requirements.
The supporting cross beams adopt a full-through beam structure, and nowadays I-beams have become the mainstream configuration.

The Importance of Suspension

Low Bed Air Suspension

Ordinary low-bed semi-trailers are standardly equipped with non-independent stamped steel rigid suspension. It is integrally composed of tandem leaf springs and suspension supports. Its main function is to bear the rated load of the whole vehicle, effectively buffer the dynamic impact on the vehicle and cargo caused by road bumps during driving, and improve driving stability and overall vehicle durability.

According to different working conditions, load capacity requirements and transportation scenarios of low-bed semi-trailers, the suspension system varies obviously in structural design and configuration selection.

At present, there are four mainstream suspension types in the industry: tandem leaf spring balanced suspension, single-point suspension, air suspension, and one-line two-axle rigid suspension.

Each type of suspension has its own advantages in load-bearing capacity, shock absorption effect, road adaptability and service life. Customers can make personalized selection and customized configuration according to cargo tonnage, road conditions, transported goods and budget, to meet diverse transportation demands such as long-distance trunk logistics, short-distance construction site haulage and heavy oversized cargo transportation.

Fitting

The protection device of the low‑bed semi‑trailer mainly consists of side protection and rear protection. It can effectively prevent pedestrians and other vehicles from drilling under the trailer, greatly improving driving safety.

A reasonably designed protection structure can also reduce driving wind resistance and save fuel consumption. The streamlined optimized side protection structure is known as the side skirt, which is widely adopted in overseas markets. However, installing side skirts in the domestic market will be regarded as vehicle modification and subject to penalties.

Standard accessories of the low‑bed semi‑trailer include toolbox, spare tire bracket, gantry frame and stake pockets. In addition, practical functional fittings such as rope tighteners and rope hooks are available for optional installation, which can be flexibly configured according to the type of transported goods and actual loading and fixing requirements.
